How to Become a New Article Booster on wikiHow

from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Thank you for your interest in becoming a New Article Booster! New Article Boost (NAB) is a combination of editing, patrolling, and thanking authors and a vital part of wikiHow’s quality improvement process. We are delighted that you are interested in joining us.
Like Admins, Boosters have some additional powers to rapidly improve new articles. And thus like admins, Boosters are selected via an application process to ensure wiki expertise among all Boosters. Here is how you can apply:

Steps

  1. Have at least 1 month experience and 300 edits on wikiHow. Since learning how wikiHow works takes some time, applicants without this minimal experience will almost certainly lack the history to make informed decisions on NAB.
  2. Read How to Do New Article Boost to understand what Boosters are supposed to do. Recognize that the role requires a bit of a different mindset than that practiced on RC patrol.
  3. Apply to become a Booster. Like adminship, boosting requires skills that takes significant experience to build. We currently have a short, painless test to assess these skills.
    • Email nab@wikihow.com to request a copy of the NAB test. This email will be sent directly to Jack. Please enclose your username in the email so Jack knows your wikiHow identity.
    • You can request it on Jack’s talk page, and he will send you a copy.
  4. Wait. Your test will be reviewed by Jack or existing Boosters. They will let you know if you were selected or if you were not. If you were not selected, please be open to coaching to help you apply again in the future.
  5. Smile and enjoy the fact that you have applied to become a powerful force for improving quality at wikiHow.

Tips

  • Don’t be shy in applying. The test is not overly time consuming. Even if you don’t pass, the process of applying will teach you more about the finer points of editing policies at wikiHow.
